My OC OS uses the quirk of isolated messages you're seeing to
perform communication and discovery. In my OS, one computer sends a
broadcast message, and the reply comes in as a direct to UUID
address message.

<Z0idberg>
My attitude was that "nobody cares if they see you make
connection attempts, they can't be intercepted"
L172[13:55:46]
<Z0idberg>
Not to mention the routing happens in direct address messages. the
only thing you see at all on the broadcast is an off hook message
which simulates a phone being taken off the hook. The server then
direct address sends a message that is synonymous with what a
"dialtone" does. and then the connecting machine sends
back the information of where it is trying to route to and the host
makes a connection.

already made their own network protocols that can help you do some
things if you are interested.
L189[14:03:49]
<Z0idberg>
@Forecaster That was my intent
L190[14:04:24]
<Z0idberg>
The idea was to also make it a seperate Lua environment so it would
be kinda blind to the world, but it would be able to expose
component "methods" to the OC lua instance
L191[14:04:41]
<Z0idberg>
It's just a lot of work for probably no gain
L192[14:05:06]
<Z0idberg>
For a network card I would have probably flashed the EEPROMs with
Trotwood network code
L193[14:05:53]
<Z0idberg>
that way Trotwood OS could just have the network card component
firmware do the networking part
L194[14:06:12]
<Z0idberg>
and Trotwood processes would just send messages to it as if they
were other processes
L195[14:07:01]
<Z0idberg>
Then, any IPC message being sent to apid >= 1.0 would be sent to
the network card instead
L196[14:07:12]
<Z0idberg>
Magic.
L197[14:10:01]
<Z0idberg>
I keep pondering over the idea of making a new computer mod for
Fabric but again, for what purpose.
