I've just encountered an interesting bug: a robot turned
itself off for no discernible reason. power is disabled in the

displaying everything as normal but it was both frozen and the
power button signified "off"

L35[10:57:48]

<Forecaster> It's an ancient issue I
believe still unsolved
L36[10:58:18]

<Forecaster> It's related to chunk
loading and the storing and resuming of a computers state
L37[10:58:49]

<Forecaster> If you turn off that feature
in the config I believe it stops happening, but then all computers
will restart when they're loaded

would having a redstone clock continually pulse the computer with

L47[11:27:11]

<RedstoneParkour> i hope the move is
completed on save
L48[11:28:44]

<einBeo> I
think the issue may be related to the game/server not exiting
cleanly (PC froze without any exception)
L49[11:28:51]

<einBeo>
+original
L50[11:29:45]

<RedstoneParkour> but yeah the issue
you're encountering is probably something else because
that's been happening to static computers too on sks12
L51[11:31:02]

<einBeo>
how often does it happen per computer per time generally?
L52[11:37:58]

<RedstoneParkour> basically never, except
on that one server where it happens semi-regularly i guess
L53[11:38:57]

<einBeo>
alright, I'll re-run the same experiment a few more time to
see if it reoccurs
L54[11:40:25]

<einBeo> my
orchestrator detects it luckily (unless it happens to a fresh robot
before it has done anything)
L55[11:42:33]

<RedstoneParkour> i mean you could
periodically broadcast a wake message over wireless and set the
network cards to wake on that message
L56[11:52:21]

<einBeo>
how would that prevent the freezing issue?
L58[12:53:28]

<Ocawesome101> all of this is possible on
a bare-minimum T1 computer
L59[12:55:14]

<Ocawesome101> question: do we think it
would be more useful for `frommtar` to return all extracted file
paths, the root to which it has extracted them, or the name of the
archive(s) it extracted there? i'm learning toward list of
extracted files
L60[12:57:13]

<RedstoneParkour> list of extracted files
seems most useful yeah as the other two are already in the
command
L61[13:08:53]

<einBeo>
actually; a completely new (probably actually bug now)
surfaced:
L62[13:08:53]

<einBeo>
the chunkloading stopped
L63[13:09:21]

<einBeo>
about 30k moves in
L65[13:11:19]

<einBeo> I
have teleported away and indeed, the chunkloader seems to be...
off
L66[13:11:44]

<einBeo>
though it must have been on, considering the previous 30k
moves
L67[13:20:53]

<einBeo> I
managed to intercept my RPC protocol to send it this command:
return
component.proxy(component.list("chunkloader")()).isActive()
L68[13:20:54]

<einBeo>
this check for whether the chunkloader is active actually returned
false
L69[13:21:19]

<einBeo>
how could the component just... disable itself?
L70[13:23:57]

<RedstoneParkour> hmm
L71[13:24:05]

<RedstoneParkour> i would say 'lack
of power' but you disabled that iirc
L72[13:24:32]

<RedstoneParkour> check your mc logs for
anything i guess
L73[13:24:41]

<einBeo>
indeed, still there could be a bug concerning anything
L74[13:25:00]

<einBeo>
the logs don't contain anything useful around the crash, I
suspect the chunkloader turning off may actually be unrelated
L75[13:25:13]

<einBeo>
since the robot just crossed a chunk boundary
L76[13:26:51]

<RedstoneParkour> i honestly have no clue;
you're in the less-tested parts of OC
L77[13:28:45]

<einBeo>
🫡
L78[13:29:46]

<einBeo>
I'll have a look at the source, there is a chance that the
field determining whether the chunkloader should be on or off can
only be modified by OC itself, narrowing down what could have
caused it to turn off
L79[13:38:30]

<einBeo>
doesn't use a field (good programming)

L83[13:40:37]

<RedstoneParkour> as then it might've
reregistered the ticket just too late or something
L84[13:41:22]

<einBeo>
currently, ticket must be None as whenever I check isActive, it
returns false
L85[13:42:53]

<einBeo> it
releases the ticket on disconnect and restores it on connect,
I'm trying to see if that's bugged but I have my doubts
(as restarting the world doesn't change it)
L86[13:43:08]

<einBeo>
though actually, if it loses the ticket once, it should stay off so
it could be there
L87[13:50:03]

<einBeo> I
can't let go of the fact that the robot just crossed a chunk
boundary
L88[14:06:49]

<einBeo>
seems like quite a nasty bug
