Does anyone know how to run cron in a docker container? I'm sure
it's stupidly easy but my brain doesn't see the solution

L26[10:52:34] <Corded> > <AR2000>
Does anyone know how to run cron in a docker container? I'm…
L27[10:52:34]
<Vaur> from
what I'm reading docker container don't include cron by default,
either you can setup the host cron to invoke a docker command, or
you get into the interactive shell and install it from there
L28[11:02:11] <Izzy> if it has systemd you
could do a systemd timer
L29[11:07:01]
<AR2000>
It's the Nexcloud docker image. I already installed cron, but I had
to start it manually
L30[11:11:36]
<Vaur> was
cron configured ?
L31[11:18:54]
<AR2000> I
had to fix the default www-data cron config, but that's another
problem, and on a fresh container `service cron status` say
failed.
L32[11:22:33]
<AR2000> It
looks like something is not working during installation. I can't
give logs yet
L34[11:24:20]
<AR2000> My
dockerfile is something like that
L35[11:36:41]
<AR2000>
There is an error about it not being able to get the run
level
L36[11:56:05] <Amanda> Docker containers
generally don't contain systemd, openrc, or any other init system.
The "init" process is specified by the Dockerfile and
it's run as PID1
L37[11:56:47] <Amanda> And it's genrally
the program that's containerised
L38[11:59:34] <Amanda> Any changes you make
in the image will be blown away if the image is stopped
L39[12:29:49]
<AR2000>
That's why I made my own dockerfile to persist my changes. But I
still really need cron to work. I don't want to use the host's
cron. The other solution would be to have a webcron container next
to it to replace the internal cron
L40[12:33:32] <Amanda> You're not tellin
git to start anywhere in that dockerfile
L41[12:33:45] <Amanda> Honestly you're
probably better off with a second container
L42[12:35:57] <Amanda> ( I missed the
dockerfile in my reading of the backlog, sorz)
L43[12:45:40] <Corded> > <Amanda>
You're not tellin git to start anywhere in that dockerfile
L44[12:45:40]

L45[12:46:14] <Amanda> har har

L87[23:03:53]
<Kristopher38> Squiddev: I want to try
amulet since I might have a fun use case but I've noticed that for
constructors with only one value amulet will put them in the same
table `{__tag = tag, value}` whereas with more values it treats
them as pairs producing `{__tag = tag, {_1 = ..., _2 = ...}}`,
similar with records `{__tag = tag, {k1 = v1, k2
L88[23:03:53] <Corded> = v2, ..., kn =
vn}}`. Is there a way to have records/type constructors that have
their values in lua on the same table level as `__tag`? i.e.
`{__tag = tag, k1 = v1, ..., kn = vn}`? I want to avoid extra table
nesting (and thus more memory usage) if I can since this is
intended for OC
