L6[01:20:07] <Amanda> Right, let's see if
this works
L7[01:28:11] <Amanda> Answer: it does not.
Maybe it'd work better if it wasn't a web page playing the
audio
L8[01:29:37] <Amanda> @ocawesome101 Izaya:
did I kill the battery, or does the pinephone just charge super
slow through the case. It's up to 50% now from several hours
L9[01:29:52]
<Ocawesome101> the keyboard case?
L10[01:29:57] <Amanda> Got down to 9%
before I plugged it in
L11[01:29:59] <Amanda> Yeah
L12[01:30:07]
<Ocawesome101> i don't have one, so i have
no idea
L13[01:30:32] <Izaya> no idea about the
case
L14[01:30:41] <Izaya> but it doesn't have
any form of fast charging IIRC
L15[01:30:49] <Amanda> Hrm
L16[01:30:57] <Amanda> Guess it'll be
awhile then
L17[01:31:01] <Izaya> (which is a good
thing! extends the lifetime of the battery)
L18[01:31:10] <Izaya> could also try
plugging it into the phone itself if that's still an option
L19[01:31:37] <Amanda> Did you see the ping

L23[01:32:48] <Izaya> someone else I know

L26[01:33:42] <Amanda> Izaya will that last
until tomorrow meowning, maybe 12-13h from now?
L27[01:33:49] <Izaya> you have 7 days
L28[01:33:55] <Amanda> Kk
L29[01:34:04] <Izaya> (possibly 6 or 8, I
didn't bother to read the find man page given it worked)
L32[01:34:52] <Amanda> Laptop is away for
the night, just wanted to know if I had to open it up for that
first. :p
L33[01:36:53] <Amanda> Anyway, the manual
for the keyboard case repeats several times in big bold letters not
to charge through the phones port while it's on the phone, only use
the phone USB-c for peripherals, so I'd rather not risk damaging
something by doing that
L34[01:39:05] <Izaya> Amanda: re: that
rc.lua you linked, I'm running it in Xephyr, any idea why my input
is being ignored?
L35[01:39:53]
<Ocawesome101> the keyboard case might
just not be able to charge the phone very fast
L36[01:42:13] <Amanda> Izaya: no idea? It
works fine on my pinephone. There's literally only like 3 keybinds
though
L37[01:42:39] <Amanda> Launch a terminal,

L41[01:44:52] <Amanda> There's no way to

L42[01:45:02] <Amanda> That's one of the

L43[01:45:30] <Izaya> I wouldn't suggest

L44[01:45:36] <Izaya> you'd be better off

L46[01:45:58] <Izaya> the awesomewm docs

L47[01:46:52] <Izaya> this is much cleaner

L48[01:46:54] <Izaya> I will steal

L49[01:49:15] <Amanda> Does awesome support
binding to modifiers being pressed themselves? Might be nice to
have mod4 for that
L50[01:49:46] <Izaya> I think so but I've
never tried
L52[02:10:26] <Izaya> well it isn't clean
but I got a basic client list popup working
L53[02:20:59] <Izaya> Amanda: I had a
custom layout set up to allow for showing/hiding a virtual keyboard
in that thinger
L54[02:21:53] <Amanda> The linked .lua in
the top comment is designed to be able to work with onboard
L55[02:22:14] <Amanda> Showing just the

L56[02:22:36] <Izaya> ah I see
L57[02:22:40] <Izaya> I janked something

L62[02:35:34] <Izaya> now with keyboard

L64[02:35:55] <Amanda> I'm thinking of

L215[21:46:59] <MichiBot> Jiminy Cricket!
Forecaster! You beat Vaur's previous record of <0 (By 2 hours,
15 minutes and 16 seconds)! I hope you're happy!
L216[21:47:00] <MichiBot> Forecaster's new
record is 2 hours, 15 minutes and 16 seconds! Forecaster also
gained 0.00225 tonk points for stealing the tonk. Position #2. Need
0.01758864 more points to pass Vaur!

<Forecaster> which one
L219[22:08:12] <Amanda> I think most of
the people in this channel are a bit young for the fuck nexus
L221[22:08:31] <lunar_sam> god this site
fucking blows
L222[23:09:34] <Amanda> dequbed: do you
have any recommendations for GUI libraries for rust? I noticed the
GNOME team members sseem to have taken to it, but I've not seen any
kind of bindings for GTK in the crates.io site
L225[23:14:04] <dequbed> Anyway, I
wouldn't recommend gtk-rs unless you specifically want a GTK
application but in Rust.
L226[23:14:52] <Amanda> any other
recommendations then?
L227[23:15:48] <dequbed>
https://www.areweguiyet.com/ has a decent overview
over the current state of the ecosystem but there isn't too much
just yet. Depending on what you want there's some really good
options though; Qt bindings and GTK bindings are there, but e.g.
egui is one of the best immediate mode GUI libraries I've ever
worked with
L228[23:18:09] <dequbed> There's also
druid which if they keep going like they have so far will be the
one stop shop for GUIs in Rust someday but when I last checked them
out like half a year ago they weren't there yet
L229[23:19:05] <Hawk777> I spent a couple
of hours looking at Rust GUI options a few weeks ago and concluded
that there were no well-maintained cross-platform libraries that
use native widgets (which is what I was looking for at the
time)—the closest I could find was an attempt at a Rust binding for
wxWidgets (which itself in turn uses native widgets), but it’s long
unmaintained unfortunately.
L231[23:25:45] <Amanda> dequbed: more
likely "hacked together pile of code poking various dbus
stuff" than "office" or "game"
L232[23:27:12] <dequbed> Ah in that case
you probably do want a GTK application but in Rust :P
