L3[00:27:48] <Izaya> if steam would stop
segfaulting on me
L4[00:27:49] <Izaya> that'd be great
L5[00:28:15]
<ThePiGuy24> gabe says no
L6[00:31:53] <Izaya> it's infuriating
because I know if I reboot it'll probably work
L7[00:32:00] <Izaya> and also if I nuke the
steam runtime it'll probably work
L8[00:32:04] <Izaya> but I don't want to do
either of those
L9[00:32:13] <dequbed> Izaya: what's your
uptime? :P
L10[00:32:29] <Izaya> only 1.5 days because
I rebooted for steam 1.5 days ago
L11[00:33:09] <dequbed> Also completely
unrelated but I heard the best description of how I take my steak
today: "Take off the horn and walk it by the fire". Now I
only need to translate that to german.
L12[00:33:28] <Izaya> Still mooing,

L17[00:39:18] <Izaya> now it doesn't even
start after I reboot
L18[00:40:37] <Izaya> ... or now that I
mention it, it starts
L20[00:42:59] <Amanda> Izaya: it takes
forever to start up for me, I'm not sure if that's just because how
they package it means the runtime's half on my SSD and half on my
HDD,, but that's the case
L21[00:43:17] <Amanda> ( Rather,how NixOS
fakes an entire linux distro to let it run "unmodified"
)
L22[00:43:20] <Izaya> it takes quite a
while for me too
L23[00:43:25] <Izaya> but mostly it
crashes
L24[00:43:35] <Izaya> and doesn't give me
any indication as to why
L25[00:45:40] <Izaya> I wonder what it'd
take to get Proton-GE and tkg-proton published on the Steam store
so Steam could do the updating of it

<PeachMaster> how do we use the `install`

i do `install`, it says, `Nothing to install.`
L29[00:58:52] <Izaya> install either copies

to another disk

L224[14:50:42] <Amanda> depends what

<Forecaster> it's named `[OpenComputers]`
or something I think
L226[14:51:01] <MisterRogers> Yeah I
checked the uuid as well.
L227[14:51:16] <MisterRogers> (I'm not the

L228[14:51:37] <MisterRogers> But the
server owner has problems finding the cause so I'm trying to help
him..
L229[14:51:48] <MisterRogers> I'll ask
what he's using.
L230[14:55:13]
<Smearfo>
I've tried a few different things, I think I have sending things to
the nanomachines down, but I don't know how to actually read the
response from them.
L231[14:55:49] <Amanda> They reply using
the modem as well. You can specify what port they will use, and
they'll send the replies using that port
L232[14:58:13]
<Smearfo>
That I've learned, and from what I've read, using an event.listen
is a good way to get the message back, right?
L233[14:58:31] <Amanda> or a loop with
event.pull
L234[14:59:39] <Amanda> either way you
want `modem_message`
L235[15:01:04] <Amanda> Also it's worth
noting that they'll only receive and reply to messages within 1m of
the player, so if you're using a regular computr case, you have to
be right up against it
L236[15:09:00]
<Smearfo>
Alright, I can get a message back and stuff, the main issue with
these is that I can't figure out which part of the message back
actually contains health information, none of the responses seem to
be health, it's likely a simple issue because I am not well versed
in lua at all
L237[15:11:51]
<Smearfo>
Here's my basic attempt at just seeing what parts of the response
are what:
L239[15:12:42] <Amanda> The first few are
event arguments, not data necessarially nanomachine related
L241[15:15:35] <Amanda> a will always be
"modem_message" , b-e will be the event info mentioned
there, f on will be the actual network message (What you'repassing
after the port in modem.broadcast )
L242[15:16:54] <Amanda> rather, for modem
messages, a will always be "modem_message"
L243[15:30:01]
<Bob> btw
we have varargs in Lua
L244[15:30:50]
<Smearfo>
Those things seem to happen as expected, but where I'd expect info
relating to health and stuff, f is "nanomachines", g is
"port" and h is "123.0"
L245[15:31:10]
<Smearfo>
In terms of responses
L246[15:31:45] <Amanda> nanomachines
starts their mesages with "nanomachines",
"port" means it's responding to the port message, and h
is probably te port you selected
L247[15:32:28] <Amanda> The message after
that should contain the health info in h and j IIRC
L248[15:33:30] <Amanda> Think of a as the
mailbox you got something from, b-e as the address on the envelope,
and f onwards as the actual contents of the message.
L249[15:34:26] <Amanda> ( for
modem_message anyway. There's also other signals, such as
"touch" on mouse clicks, or "key" on keyboard
presses, each with their own address segments and message segments,
of different sizes and compisitions
L250[15:35:41]
<Smearfo> I
added some more variables, but after h they all just turn up nil it
seems
L251[15:36:33] <Amanda> for example, for
key events a is "key_(up/down)", b is the from address
(the keyboard component that sent the event), c and d are different
ways to represent what the key pressed was, and e is the player
that pressed it
L252[15:36:57] <Amanda> Do you get
anything after "port"?
L253[15:37:18] <Amanda> ( in g )
L254[15:37:29] <Amanda> That is, as a
seperate event
L255[15:38:02] <Amanda> each message gets
it's own event, and thus it's own clal to getInfo
