L56[09:38:42] <Izaya> VIA and such don't
really shift products anywhere but china, and then only a small
amount
L57[09:39:16] <AmandaC> TIL there's another
maker of x86
L58[09:40:10] <Izaya> There used to be
more
L59[09:40:24] <Izaya> Cyrix were faster in
most cases than Intel or AMD for a while
L60[09:40:50] <Izaya> They developed
ISA-compatible chips and skipped the microcode
L61[09:40:58] <Izaya> Was all implemented
as actual logic
L62[09:41:12] <Izaya> Then Quake happened
and they ran it terribly

the FPU and integer maths at the same time and Cyrix chips were bad
at that
L64[09:41:47] <AmandaC> Ah

L68[09:42:50] <Izaya> They don't actually
implement x86 but it has extensions to run x86 code faster emulated

threatening to sue over that?
L70[09:44:23] <Izaya> I think so.
L71[09:44:34] <Izaya> Either they settled
it somehow or Microsoft leaned on Intel.
L72[09:44:57] <Izaya> Either way, it's
happening, because Microsoft wants Windows 10 with x86 programs
running on ARM.

L224[23:44:57] <freacknate09> hey, there
we go. I got a tablet now
L225[23:45:13] <freacknate09> I am doing
coding *shudder*
L226[23:46:00] <gamax92> I am doing stack
frame creation/destruction removal
L227[23:46:28] <freacknate09> wow, you
lost me after doing
L228[23:46:30] <freacknate09> lol
L229[23:46:50] <SF-MC> What are you doing
with that gamax92?
L230[23:46:53] <freacknate09> I am trying
to make an item tracking database for my group in an MC
server
L231[23:47:00] <gamax92> 365 methods in
the libc no longer call createStackFrame() and
destroyStackFrame()
L232[23:47:09] <gamax92> and 97 methods in
luap no longer call that either
L233[23:47:16] <freacknate09> *shudder*
the file storage needed will be massive
L234[23:47:40] <gamax92> it detects if the
method doesn't need to use the stack then there is no point setting
up the frames
L235[23:47:46] <gamax92> which speeds
things up a bit
L236[23:47:53] <SF-MC> Fair enough
L237[23:48:17] <freacknate09> Nice
L238[23:48:30] <freacknate09> Sounds a lot
harder than my database program
L239[23:48:54] <freacknate09> I don't even
know how I am gonna do the GUI. I do not want to have to teach
these 2 all the commands
L240[23:49:02] <freacknate09> hmm, it
doubled
L241[23:51:03] <freacknate09> How do I
write a table to a file?
L242[23:51:13] <SF-MC> You serialize
it
L243[23:51:29] <freacknate09> uhh, does
that need a data card?
L244[23:51:33] <SF-MC> nope
L245[23:51:40] <freacknate09> good, now
how do I serialize it?
L246[23:56:55] <gamax92> I thought about
it a bit more and realized I did a dumb, so now it's 554 for libc
and 475 for luap, massive speed improvement
L247[23:57:06] <SF-MC> whee speed
improvements!
L248[23:57:15] <gamax92> whee it's still
like 25% speed of native lua .-.
L249[23:57:29] <freacknate09> What is this
you are speeding up?
L250[23:57:42] <SF-MC> Probably
OpenComputer's Lua implementation?
L251[23:57:55] <gamax92> I compiled lua to
jvm classes and then made a mode to add it as an architecture
L252[23:58:01] <gamax92> a mod
L253[23:58:01] <freacknate09> ahh
L254[23:58:10] <SF-MC> hm,
interesting
L255[23:58:20] <freacknate09> You are
doing stuff way over me lol
L256[23:59:07] <freacknate09> Eventually I
will be that good

L258[23:59:31] <gamax92> lljvm is not
thread safe, so I made stacks use threadlocal, but that slows
things down, so I made it use the stack as little as possible, and
now performance hit is minimal
