statically checked methods :thonk:
L210[21:57:48]
<Z0idberg>
Well I'm thinking about the pluggable module interface for
trotwood
L211[21:58:03]
<Z0idberg>
I don't -really- need an interface
L212[21:58:07]
<Z0idberg>
but it would be nifty
L213[21:58:17]
<Z0idberg>
There's really only one function anyways

modules are, effectively processes.

<Z0idberg>
Heh.
L233[22:20:42]
<Z0idberg>
Trotwood doesn't actually have a VFS for filesystem access, it uses
something called a resource manager. Resources are like for
example:
http://foobar.com/lol or system://kernel.lua. On OC,
you get a namespace called component:// and you can find processes
by name by another namespace, and I may in fact categorize modules
by having some namespace for that.
L234[22:21:18]
<Bob> well
thats a way to do it too
L235[22:21:20]
<Z0idberg>
the idea is that you have buffered and unbuffered resources which
could be anything.. a stream to a network interface of buffered
disk IO or component RPC
L236[22:21:28]
<Z0idberg>
Yeah I kind of like it so I stuck with it.
L237[22:22:10]
<Bob> well
its quite explicit
L238[22:22:16]
<Bob> so it
works well too
L239[22:22:18]
<Z0idberg>
you can do fancy resource access like,
foobar[options]@nodeID://resource...
L240[22:22:52]
<Z0idberg>
I forget the full spec but I have it somewhere
L241[22:23:38]
<Z0idberg>
Oh here it is:
L242[22:23:39]
<Z0idberg>
`[supplicant@]namespace:[node]//resourcepath[:meta]` where [] is
optional stuff.
L243[22:24:00]
<Z0idberg>
I may switch the node and namespace parts. We'll see
L244[22:41:01]
<Z0idberg>
I think I should change it to make it more consistent and easier to
parse
L246[22:41:38]
<Z0idberg>
Resource can be any printable ascii characters I think.
L247[22:41:45]
<Z0idberg>
They would be passed to the module
L248[22:43:10]
<Z0idberg>
This would make links like ssh://bob@google.com:/home/bob/over9000
work.
L249[22:53:09]
<Z0idberg>
TIL @Bob has their own homedirectory on Google

Basically you bypass your limitation of port forwarding by making
an SSH connection to some server and forwarding your ports through
the SSH connection on another server instead.

(Though, if you do it this way, you probably want to use autossh to

im understanding correctly, this means i need a server outside my
