L39[04:16:07] <Michiyo> Yeah! We're totally

L40[04:16:23] <Michiyo> :P
L41[04:16:56] <Michiyo> But yeah, this is
the actual channel (and discord via a relay)
L42[04:18:34] <SkyClan480> oh cool
L43[04:19:08] <SkyClan480> i probably

L44[04:19:19] <Michiyo> %discord
L46[04:20:40] <SkyClan480> i just came to
ask if there was some block/item/component/extensio/other kind of
object that could allow a robot to detect a certain entity and
navigate to it
L47[04:20:49] <SkyClan480> as i see no such
thing in the documentation
L48[04:22:11] <Michiyo> In base OC? No,
nothing for specific entities
L50[04:22:55] <SkyClan480> well i am using
a modpack
L51[04:23:06] <SkyClan480> which idk if
that mod is in it or not
L52[04:23:38] <Michiyo> Well, if not they
really should, it's the best mod!
L53[04:23:54] <SkyClan480> foolcraft 3 is
the modpack, if you happen to know
L54[04:24:48] <Michiyo> I have no idea,
folks don't generally need to ask my permission to include the mod
in their pack *shrug*
L55[04:25:02] <Michiyo> You can open the
mod list and see if you see "OpenSecurity"
L56[04:25:17] <Izaya> @opensec in JEI or
whatever it's called now
L57[04:25:19] <SkyClan480> well yeah but i
thought maybe if you had played it before idk
L58[04:26:35] <SkyClan480> it does not
appear to be included
L59[04:26:52] <Michiyo> I mod minecraft, I
don't play it :P
L60[04:27:00] <SkyClan480> i just want to
automate the aquiring of milk buckets for a specific autocrafting
process
L61[04:27:21] <SkyClan480> and since that
is an entity interaction theres not really a machine capable of
doing it
L62[04:27:36] <Izaya> I mean, if you know
where the cow is a robot should be able to do it
L63[04:27:40] <Izaya> or drone, I
think?
L64[04:27:54] <SkyClan480> if a drone could
do it that would be great
L65[04:28:01] <SkyClan480> they seem
simpler than robots
L66[04:28:22] <Izaya> Simpler conceptually
but more involved to use :)
L67[04:28:28] <SkyClan480> but i dont think
theres a way to know exactly where the cow is
L68[04:28:38] <Izaya> you could put the cow
in a stall so it can't move
L69[04:28:58] <Izaya> or just have the
robot cover every square of the pen
L70[04:29:05] <SkyClan480> but the
robot/drone operates on the block directly in front of it
yes?
L71[04:29:13] <Izaya> or above or
below
L72[04:29:29] <SkyClan480> well it would
still need to be directly adjacent to the cow
L73[04:29:32] <Izaya> (drones only above or
below)
L74[04:29:35] <Izaya> yup
L75[04:29:52] <Izaya> robots are solid
blocks
L76[04:29:59] <SkyClan480> so if you allow
that to happen, you also inherently dont trap the cow usually
L77[04:30:09] <SkyClan480> unless im just
dumb
L78[04:30:31] <Izaya> you can use the robot
as part of the pen
L79[04:30:47] <SkyClan480> but what about
when it moves away
L80[04:31:05] <Izaya> evidently your pen is
too big :p
L81[04:31:06] <Michiyo> 2x1 pen?
L82[04:31:12] <Izaya> now there is an
entity detector also
L83[04:31:17] <Izaya> in base OC
L84[04:31:23] <Izaya> but it can only do
motion? IIRC?
L85[04:31:29] <Michiyo> it's motion
only
L86[04:31:33] <Izaya> so you could use that
to get the position of an entity within a pen
L87[04:31:44] <Izaya> though whether it's a
cow would be anyone's guess
L88[04:31:54] <SkyClan480> well if cows are
the only entities in the pen that wouldnt be an issue
L90[04:32:17] <Izaya> or you can just
figure it will be somewhere and fly your robot over the whole
pen
L92[04:32:38] <SkyClan480> i was thinking a
motion sensor wouldnt allow the bot to navigate to the source of
motion though
L93[04:32:39] <Izaya> not sure how well
that would work and it's certainly not an efficient way to do it
but y'know
L94[04:33:45] <Michiyo> It gives you a
relative x/y/z and you'll have to figure out how to navigate
there
L95[04:33:46] <Izaya> the event has a
relative location to the sensor
L96[04:33:52] <Michiyo> and then hope that
it hasn't moved. :P
L97[04:34:17] <SkyClan480> yeah thats the
problem, the event only fires when the movement starts from what i
understand
L98[04:34:50] <Michiyo> Oh hey the sensor
DOES give name too... well crap
L99[04:35:03] <SkyClan480> ah yes
L100[04:35:03] <Izaya> it shows as an
optional param
L101[04:35:07] <Izaya> might be a config
setting
L102[04:35:11] <SkyClan480> but uh
L103[04:35:18] <SkyClan480> i still dont
know if that would work
L104[04:35:34] <Michiyo> Well, mine is
still better, so get them to add OpenSec :p
L105[04:35:38] <SkyClan480> i can see the
sensor firing, robot moving there, and the entity not being there
anymore
L106[04:35:57] <Izaya> feed the robot
continuous position updates
L107[04:36:11] <SkyClan480> i guess ill
just make a smallish pen and have the robot scan the whole
thing
L108[04:36:38] <SkyClan480> that will
probably be easier to program than trying to make it navigate to
the entity position anywau
L109[04:36:51] <Izaya> if you can deal
with drone development they're faster and move in relative
positions already
L110[04:37:34] <SkyClan480> does the
navigation upgrade include a method to move to a set of
coordinates
L111[04:37:47] <Izaya> on a related note
did anyone ever figure out a way to do beamed power for
drones?
L112[04:38:17] <Izaya> navigation upgrade
just gives you your position on a map
L113[04:38:39] <SkyClan480> also are
robots/drones able to access inventories such as chests
L114[04:38:42] <SkyClan480> oh
L115[04:39:31] <Izaya> if your path is
unobstructed all you need to do is count how many places you've
moved to move a relative distance
L116[04:39:48] <Izaya> while movedx <
relx do movex() end sorta thing
L117[04:40:18] <SkyClan480> movedx?
L118[04:40:35] <SkyClan480> oh previous
movement
L119[04:40:40] <Izaya> yup
L120[04:41:03] <SkyClan480> im not as
familiar with lua as other languages
L121[04:42:07] <SkyClan480> so relative
position is position relative to the robot, robot being 0,0 in that
coordinate plane, right
L122[04:43:10] <Izaya> right
L123[04:45:34] <SkyClan480> ok so simple,
get relative position, then movex(relativex),
movey(relativey)
L124[04:45:37] <SkyClan480> or z
L125[04:45:58] <SkyClan480> world
coordinates so probably z
L126[04:46:30] <SkyClan480> the problem
will be having the correct position to move to
L127[04:46:36] <Izaya> yeah like all you'd
need to do is, assuming no obstacles, for each of your axis, move
once for each block of relative distance
L128[04:46:47] <SkyClan480> yeah
L129[04:46:48] <Izaya> then you can repeat
it in reverse to return to the home position
L130[04:47:04] <SkyClan480> well it
wouldnt be so simple
L131[04:47:18] <Izaya> you have to do the
pointing to move a robot, of course :p
L132[04:47:27] <SkyClan480> it would
probably be a series of modules that would go like
L133[04:47:37] <SkyClan480> search for a
cow
L134[04:47:49] <SkyClan480> that would
involve receiving data from the motion sensor
L135[04:48:14] <SkyClan480> if foundCow,
move to cows position using the relative coordinates
L136[04:48:37] <SkyClan480> try to use
bucket, if failed then return to the top of search for cow
L137[04:49:16] <SkyClan480> if successful,
navigate to a predetermined dropoff location and deposit the
bucket, possibly pick up a new empty bucket
L138[04:49:34] <SkyClan480> then return to
the pen area
L139[04:49:44] <SkyClan480> repeat from
the top of search for cow
L140[04:49:58] <SkyClan480> that would be
the general idea of the program
L141[04:50:45] <SkyClan480> so ive read
that robots are able to deposit into inventories using
robot.drop
L142[04:51:00] <SkyClan480> if the drop
location is an inventory items go in it
L143[04:51:14] <SkyClan480> does an me
terminal from applied energistics 2 count as an inventory
L144[04:52:47] <Izaya> I don't think so
because of the number of AE2 related stuff there ends up being
added
L145[04:52:58] <Izaya> you could have an
input chest for your AE system though I believe
L146[04:53:13] <SkyClan480> hmm
L147[04:53:17] <SkyClan480> well
actually
L148[04:53:22] *
Izaya doesn't really do AE
L149[04:54:04] <SkyClan480> the robot
counts as a block with inventory, so the robot.drop method would be
like a machine outputting a block from its inventory right
L150[04:54:32] <SkyClan480> if thats the
case it should be able to give the items to an me interface
L151[04:54:46] <SkyClan480> which will
work just fine
L152[04:55:40] <Izaya> personally I'm
looking at those navigation waypoint thingers for logistics, might
be more practical than running hundreds of EnderIO item cables for
my OC logistics setup
L153[04:56:03] <SkyClan480> enderio
cables
L154[04:56:18] <SkyClan480> thats a ton of
iron and redstone to make
L155[04:56:31] <SkyClan480> do you not
have anything cheaper
L156[04:56:39] <Izaya> they're the only
thing that suit the usecase
L157[04:56:51] <Izaya> that is, many
channels in one cable
L158[04:57:20] <Izaya> (yes, I know AE2
exists, but I'm going for low-fantasy with my modpack :p)
L159[04:57:44] <SkyClan480> i wouldnt even
think of ae2 for simple item transfer
L160[04:57:52] <Izaya> oh, it's not simple
item transfer
L161[04:57:57] <SkyClan480> oh
L162[04:58:10] <Izaya> I have a computer
in every room networked to the central storage system
L163[04:58:22] <SkyClan480> ah well
L164[04:58:33] <SkyClan480> i guess
enderio works then
L165[04:58:42] <Izaya> but that doesn't
ever run at capacity so drones moving items around may be more
practical
L166[04:58:43] <Izaya> (and cooler!)
L167[04:59:13] <SkyClan480> only other
thing i think of is xnet would probably work pretty well for
that
L168[04:59:23] <SkyClan480> but i guess
xnet doesnt really fit with a fantasy theme
L169[04:59:44] <Izaya> not actually going
for fantasy, was just a joke about how AE2 is basically
clarketech
L170[05:00:00] <SkyClan480> oh
L172[05:00:22] <SkyClan480> i mean the
concept of ae2 is me, matter energy
L173[05:00:35] <SkyClan480> storing
physical objects as data
L174[05:00:53] <SkyClan480> id consider it
mor sci fi than fantasy
L175[05:01:09] <Izaya> you're reading way
too much into it :p
L176[05:01:33] <SkyClan480> lol
L177[05:01:39] <SkyClan480> im a huge tech
nerd
L178[05:01:45] <SkyClan480> tech mods are
my thing
L179[05:01:58] <SkyClan480> i dont really
do magic/fantasy mods
L181[05:02:45] <SkyClan480> tinkers
construct, thermal foundation/expansion/dynamics, applied
energistics 2, ender io, etc
L182[05:02:55] <SkyClan480> some of my
personal favorites
L184[05:04:05] <SkyClan480> i find it fun
to abuse free power setups using nothing but spruce trees
L185[05:04:42] <SkyClan480> oh those ender
io cables are multipart
L186[05:04:48] <SkyClan480> i forgot about
that
L187[05:05:03] <Izaya> storage drawers and
OC storage system, serving an arbitrary number of separate
inventories, with remote access over minitel RPC
L188[05:05:35] <Izaya> (and the redstone
I/O block hooked up to a season clock and a timer, for
wake-on-redstone)
L189[05:05:42] <SkyClan480> needlessly
complicated? totally. really freaking cool? absolutely.
L190[05:06:08] <Izaya> it pulls together
most of the work I've done on OC it makes me happy
L191[05:07:05] <SkyClan480> what mod is
that power cell looking thing in the middle from
L192[05:07:17] <SkyClan480> on the

L193[05:07:24] <Izaya> oh that's the
redstone I/O block from OC :p
L194[05:07:38] <SkyClan480> ah
L195[05:07:58] <SkyClan480> it looked like
a battery to me
L196[05:08:09] <SkyClan480> been playing
too much thermal expansion
L198[05:08:55] <SkyClan480> mmmm
tasty
L199[05:09:14] <Izaya> (I still don't
entirely understand the mechaics of that design and some of the
ports were mirrored but it works so whatever)
L200[05:09:34] <SkyClan480> if it aint
broke dont fix it right
L201[05:09:51] <Izaya> that is the fix
x_x
L202[05:10:02] <Izaya> on the upside I can
hook up 45 computers to the network so that's pretty good
L203[05:11:11] <SkyClan480> i thought an
me network spanning 3 seperate areas over 150 blocks apart was
impressive, then i saw this
L205[05:11:57] <SkyClan480> oh that looks
very nice
L206[05:12:05] <SkyClan480> i cannot build

L228[06:25:50]
<Forecaster> I need to get a priest, and
then get them to go "Wololo" and turn the ship!
L229[06:27:50] <Michiyo> lmao
L230[06:28:36]
<Forecaster> really though, I might be
able to set up AutoHotkey scripts to steer the ship, then call them
with my python script
L231[06:29:03]
<Forecaster> my hope is that AutoHotkey is
more reliable for sending consistent control inputs
L232[06:30:00]
<Forecaster> my problem is when
pydirectinput is sending inputs sometimes it seems to stutter and
even though it should just be tapping a key it holds it down for
too long
L233[06:30:16]
<Forecaster> but it might also be the game
itself, which would be unfortunate...
L234[06:34:33] <Michiyo> Most...
unfortunate
L235[06:45:07]
<Forecaster> time to run some tests with
AH and see how well that works
L236[07:09:55]
