L243[14:12:22] <Forecaster> no
L244[14:12:27] <Forecaster> it will collide and stop moving
L245[14:12:53] <Forecaster> the move function will probably return false if that happens though
L246[14:12:57] <ben_mkiv> since when does BR have particle generators?
L247[14:13:09] <Joco223> Ok, thanks
L248[14:14:02] <Joco223> It will probably be pretty hard then to make a drone path find around my house and to me (it would get the relative position of me from a tablet)
L249[14:20:54] <ben_mkiv> waypoints
L250[14:25:27] <Joco223> Do drones collide with each other? I guess yes
L251[14:28:44] <S3> Wheeee NOCLIP
L252[14:29:51] <S3> you should design your program to crash when it hits a wall
L253[14:30:10] <S3> That's the way I would do iyt
L254[14:30:16] <S3> it*
L255[14:35:44] <Doctor> i use mine factory reloaded for auto farms i think using oc is a bit to hard XD
L256[14:35:57] <Doctor> we mass produce 3 stacks of potatoes a minute
L257[14:36:04] <Doctor> we basically make our money from people
L258[14:36:26] <ben_mkiv> basically from potatos
L259[14:36:42] <ben_mkiv> and potato eating people
L260[14:37:28] <Doctor> fuck i said that wrong
L261[14:37:39] <Doctor> welp the anti matter generator works!
L262[14:39:37] <ben_mkiv> BR only has fission reactors
L263[14:40:30] <Joco223> What I meant was, if two drones tried to go to the same place, would they push each other around?
L264[14:41:17] <Doctor> the funny part is our reactor is barly able to handle the amount of power where using to power the anti matter generator
L265[14:41:19] <Forecaster> I don't think so
L266[14:41:50] <Forecaster> also I think using mine factory is boring, so there
L267[14:43:28] <ben_mkiv> indeed
L268[15:23:51] <payonel> S3: you asked about the sockets thing i was talking about. the sockets do just do sockets things. it is completely separate for the applications i'm writing on top of it. the sockets lib i wrote isn't "done" and "done", it just works well at what it does, but is lacking a few features
L269[15:24:32] <payonel> S3: also, "making it optional" no idea what you're mean there. the socket lib follows a simple api, and i run tests against my applications using mock sockets that follow that api. is that what you mean?
L270[16:34:14] <Forecaster> %tonk
L271[16:34:15] <MichiBot> Forecaster! You beat Bob's previous record of 1 hour, 53 minutes and 40 seconds! I hope you're happy!
L272[16:34:16] <MichiBot> Forecaster's new record is 3 hours, 29 minutes and 6 seconds
L273[16:36:05] <S3> payonel: I was just butting into your conversation about connection oriented sockets
L274[16:36:13] <S3> but half uninformed probably :D
L275[16:36:25] <S3> because I only had half an idea what you were talking about at the time
L276[16:36:43] <S3> I thought you were having trouble managing socket connections at the socket level
L277[16:36:50] <S3> with floating connections
L278[16:36:59] <S3> which is when I wondered, why are connections being done at the socket level
L279[16:39:13] <payonel> if you're curious, part of the problem actually is that openos' reboot and shutdown commands are direct instead of dispatched, and thus if executed from indirect and interrupted threads/events, they may not complete
L280[16:39:58] <Joco223> Can adapters read chest contents without an inventory controller upgrade?
L281[16:40:03] <payonel> the socket itself can easily measure timeouts or be used purely nonblocking
L282[16:40:11] <payonel> i just haven't built that into psh _fully_
L283[16:40:22] <payonel> @joco223 no
L284[16:40:42] <Joco223> *ouch*
L285[16:40:43] <Joco223> ok
L286[16:41:16] <S3> payonel: This is where functional programming seriously beats :D
L287[16:41:34] <S3> because it makes it easy to forget that there's even a problem with that
L288[16:41:57] * payonel sighs
L289[16:42:02] <S3> hehe
L290[16:42:12] <S3> I'm only trying to pull on your leg a little
L291[16:42:16] <S3> :)
L292[16:42:49] <payonel> using a different programming paradigm does not make things exist that aren't created
L293[16:42:49] <S3> but no in a serious sense, what are the consequences if that happens?
L294[16:43:08] <payonel> consequence if what happens?
L295[16:43:54] <S3> if they do not complete
L296[16:44:38] <payonel> nothing. in this case, the pshd daemon stops (because it got notified that shutdown started)
L297[16:44:45] <payonel> but otherwise, both systems continue to run fine
L298[16:45:13] <payonel> oh no, actually, pshd continues to run. the sockets are closed though
L299[16:45:42] <payonel> anyways, there is an event handler for shutdown to make remote connections close nicely in the case the machine is restarted
L300[16:45:57] <payonel> rather than forc connections to time out (just a slightly nicer experience)
L301[16:46:20] <S3> what if you had some form of external observer
L302[16:46:27] <S3> to ensure that promises were fulfilled
L303[16:47:43] <payonel> i've already pointed out the flaw with openos' reboot/shutdown being direct
L304[16:48:57] <payonel> an "external observer" would be an indirect execution of commands such as reboot/shutdown
L305[16:51:55] <payonel> and yes, that's how "real linux" works. (btw, "*nix" annoys me. unix is exception, not the standard. it is linux). reboot/shutdown in linux is indirect. the process that initiated it is killed but the reboot/shutdown process/promise/action/sequence isn't killed
L306[16:52:44] <S3> it can die with the shutdown
L307[16:53:17] <S3> I have studied some parts of the Linux kernel, but I have never looked at the way shutdowns are handled.
L308[16:53:34] <S3> other than on inittab systems how it is handled at a user level
L309[17:04:05] <Joco223> Well I didn't expect this, I can't have an inventory controller, inventory upgrade and a t2 wireless card on a t1 drone
L310[17:04:10] <Joco223> That's fair

L402[23:55:05] <tomdodd4598> Hello there! Having a bit of a strange issue that I'm finding a bit tricky to crack down on. I am adding OC support for a bunch of tile entities using the amazing SimpleComponent interface, and it works beautifully for all but one of them, the 'radiation scrubber' in this case. The interface is used in practically the same way as in the other classes, and in the logs I even see `[Server thread/INFO] [OpenComputers]: Successfully injected
L403[23:55:05] <tomdodd4598> component logic into class nc.tile.radiation.TileScrubber.`, but for some reason OC cables will not connect to it, even though they will for all the others. Here is the tile entity class (OC stuff at the bottom): <https://pastebin.com/m5bhexJS>
L404[23:55:06] <tomdodd4598> Is there anything I might be getting wrong for this to happen?
