<Nikk M.>
Yup, still occurring.
L53[09:04:46] <AmandaC> deleting the state
files wasn't meant to fix it, it was meant to be a debugging tool,
so youcan see who / what owns the computer that it happens on,
because you'd see their log in before it started again
L54[09:06:47]
<Lizzian>
it's weird how the debug callback stuff isn't showing for you
L55[09:08:36] <AmandaC> I maintain it's
probably an addon being bad
L56[09:08:51] <AmandaC> catching then
re-throwing the same exception. possibly
L57[09:09:38]
<Lizzian>
yeah, but it's weird that it's not giving any extra info
L59[09:11:46] <AmandaC> either that or a
similar line in the luaj one
L60[09:13:40]
<Lizzian>
hmm, well idk scala that well, but it looks like each time that
error is happening, it should be sending an error back into the
luastate of whatever computer caused it
L61[09:14:05] <AmandaC> yeah, weather or
not the user is checking for that error is another matter
L62[09:14:26]
<Lizzian> i
mean, if it's wrapped in a pcall statement it's going to be able to
be ignored
L63[09:16:33] <AmandaC> It'll appear to the
user that the component returned `nil, <error>`
L64[09:17:30]
<Lizzian>
@Nikk M. might be a long shot, but could you try asking your users
if any of them are getting excessive "unknown error"
errors when interfacing with oc stuff?
L65[09:17:54]
<Lizzian>
cause whatever they're using is most likely not working
L66[09:18:59] <AmandaC> The component stack
won't be surfacing it as a pcall-catchable error, if I understand
the stack correctly
L67[09:19:34]
<Lizzian>
yeah, but hopefully whoever is pcall-catching it will notice that
their stuff isn't working as intended
L68[09:19:37] <AmandaC> the `true` means
`successful call`, then the rest are the results. if it was `false`
it'd be turned into a lua `error()` call by machine.lua
L69[09:19:48]
<Lizzian>
ah
L70[09:20:01]
<Lizzian>
maybe that should be made false
L71[09:22:01] <AmandaC> I'd do a MR, but
it'd likely take a while to make it into a release, and even longer
to make it into whatever modpack she's using

L82[12:20:44] <Temia> Nay, closest we have
is using the braille plane to create pixels in a uniquelylimited
colour space
L83[12:21:16] <Temia> I have pondered such
an idea in the past though.
L84[12:26:38] <AmandaC> It's complicated
because the OC Lua stuff runs on the server, while the displays are
on the client. Something like how OC Glasses does it would be
feasible, but nobody would be very happy with it for long, and any
other way would be very spammy in network / increasingly slow
L85[12:28:28] <Temia> Indeed, there is
definitely a concern for bandwidth consumption.
L86[12:29:36] <Temia> I'd probably place
some hard limits on it if I wrote a graphical device.
L87[12:30:17] <AmandaC> i think it was ds
who said the biggest problem is sending the "current
state" on connect, since dedicated servers generally dont gave
GPUs, so it'd have to store and send every drawing command and have
the client "re-play" it
L88[12:30:36] <Temia> Indeed.
L89[12:31:08] <Temia> That said, a virtual
canvas with basic 2D acceleration routines would be a lot easier to
implement
L90[12:31:35] <Temia> The trick is just
keeping bandwidth usage down, which I have a few ideas for

L113[13:28:32]
<Toothless the

request thing setup, so basically when you are poor on a server,
and have only 1 internet card, you can setup a so called "HTTP
proxy"
L114[13:28:32]
<Toothless the
Dragon> so it sends like Client -> Queries DNS for HTTP
proxy-> Gets HTTP proxy address -> Send request to http proxy
-> Http proxy then does the request -> returns it to client.
It uses a network protocol i setup, with synchronous network
replies (E.g `local response = netlib.awaitReply(address, port,
"please reply back!")`)

L131[13:39:24] <payonel> K-MaN: if you
could please retest with our latest 1.12 build, that would be quite
helpful for me
L133[13:39:46]
<Compu> how
does it work? do u have to rewrite programs to use it or is there
some sort of shim library that grabs calls for the internet card
and routes them via the network card?
L134[13:40:00] <payonel> K-MaN: our 1.7.3
release will have all the fixes i've been working on
L135[13:40:08] <payonel> but that is still
some time out
L136[13:41:09]
<Toothless the

local data = http.getProxy("example.com"), and it handles
it all
L138[13:41:19]
<Toothless the

about handling multiple computers? what happens if 2 computers need
to use the internet card at the same time?
L140[13:42:07]
<Toothless the

fine
L141[13:42:19]
