versions are actively supported atm although 1.15 just dropped and
one of them is likely to get end-of-life'd in the next few weeks.
it's uncertain which that will be, though, as of now

for 1.12 and 1.14 afaik. Note that 1.15 is rather similar to 1.14
so updating from 1.14 to 1.15 will be easy, while everything
changed between 1.12 and 1.14
