L61[09:45:17] <ForgeDiscord> <StrikerRocker> Well the recipe are sent during world join so expect time outs due to excess custom recipes
L62[09:47:51] <TechnicianLP> could be delayed into packets sent after join
L63[09:48:56] <Corosus> theres been talks of working on fixing that issue, older hardware is already having timeout on join issues due to new 1.12 stuff on join
L64[09:49:11] <ForgeDiscord> <cpw> it shouldn't be
L65[09:49:26] <ForgeDiscord> <cpw> there's a few bad mods that are causing some serious slowdown issues due to logging and such
L66[09:50:44] <ForgeDiscord> <cpw> but 30 seconds should be ample for almost all speeds of machine. network slowness is a different story of course
L67[09:51:41] <ForgeDiscord> <StrikerRocker> Well 1.13 will increase the timeouts
L68[09:51:55] <ForgeDiscord> <StrikerRocker> Due to no of mods with no of custom recipes
L69[09:51:58] <ForgeDiscord> <cpw> nah. 1.13 will rewrite the handshake
L70[09:52:26] <ForgeDiscord> <StrikerRocker> Ah ok. By forge or by mojangsta themselves?
L71[09:52:50] <ForgeDiscord> <cpw> hopefully mojang. they probably need to do so to do datapacks properly.
L72[09:53:13] <ForgeDiscord> <StrikerRocker> Welp
L73[09:53:52] <Corosus> yeah last i checked recipe book and binnies bees genetics stuff were huge loads on join time
L74[09:54:15] <ForgeDiscord> <offbeatwitch> yeah I think if you're gonna send large swathes of data you need progress on the client showing things happening
L75[09:54:22] <ForgeDiscord> <StrikerRocker> Currently there are mods which disable recipe book
L76[09:54:33] <ForgeDiscord> <offbeatwitch> they could have a nice screen for each stage
L77[09:54:40] <ForgeDiscord> <offbeatwitch> downloading recipes, downloading world
L78[09:54:41] <ForgeDiscord> <offbeatwitch> etc
L79[09:55:05] <Corosus> yeah that was suggested too
L80[09:55:17] <Corosus> then also worker tasks that do it lazily after join was suggested
L81[09:55:18] <ForgeDiscord> <cpw> well, when i wrote the handshake, i wanted it to work first, then be pretty ?
L82[09:55:24] <Corosus> heheh
L83[09:55:29] <ForgeDiscord> <offbeatwitch> it shouldn't time out as long as each side is getting packets also
L84[09:55:35] <ForgeDiscord> <offbeatwitch> right?
L85[09:55:47] <ForgeDiscord> <offbeatwitch> seems dumb for a timeout with packets moving
L86[09:55:51] <Corosus> for future reference, what mods disable recipe book stuff StrikerRocker? i might see if it helps with our ftb revelations based modpack

L97[09:59:41] <ForgeDiscord> <temp1011> @Corosus Binnie's bees should be better in 1.13 I believe. The amount of NBT sent between sides has been reduced quite a lot but it's a breaking change

L186[17:24:53] <LexManos> missing mapping exists in 1.10
L187[17:25:15] <LexManos> Its really really old, I think it was added when we built things for 1.7.
L188[17:25:57] <ForgeDiscord> <cpw> Technically 1.6.4 had the original item tracking code.
L189[17:26:18] <LexManos> As for 1.13, I wouldn't hold out for worlds being compatible in-game for 1.13. Honestly i'd expect a external tool be written to convert everything.
L190[17:26:35] <ForgeDiscord> <cpw> There was code in 1.7 to migrate it to the 1.7 format. Since then it's been converting mostly fine
L191[17:26:51] <LexManos> Mojang's datafixer isn't exactly nice.. and im still not sure IF I can hack it to not kill modded data.
L192[17:27:10] <ForgeDiscord> <cpw> Yeah, it's far too coarse grained
L193[17:27:33] <ForgeDiscord> <cpw> When I last looked at it, it really needed a new version layer put on top to be useful
L194[17:30:27] <LexManos> Honestly I think we should just add a error screen if people load 1.12 modded worlds {has any blocks/items outside the MC package} and redirect them to a external tool.
L195[17:30:44] <LexManos> And then have that tool have some form of community based update mappings.
L196[17:31:02] <LexManos> So people can be like "Heres a world converter config for SevTech!"
L197[17:31:16] <ForgeDiscord> <halvors> This was to good help: https://gist.github.com/LexManos/c698aca98c433683a2a9916c9ba2e548
L198[17:31:38] <ForgeDiscord> <halvors> But how can i do that for blockstates? Or blocks having metadata types?
L199[17:31:45] <LexManos> And maybe a list of generic save converter per mod... And add a "These are the detected mods in the world auto-grabbing mod converters'
L200[17:31:46] <ForgeDiscord> <halvors> Is it impossible in 1.10?
L201[17:32:47] <LexManos> Are you asking how to split a single block with multiple subtypes into multiple full blocks? or vise versa?
L202[17:34:58] <ForgeDiscord> <halvors> Well i have 2 registry names for 2 blocks (old code), now i have one block where those to old blocks is different block states. Calling getBlock() on the blockstates works fine, except that the registry doesn't seem to allow me to register that new block (differnt subtypes) with the same registry name.
L203[17:36:47] <LexManos> well ya, its a block registry not a blockstate registry.
L204[17:37:05] <LexManos> This... Im not actually sure how to do... You can write a data fixer for it.
L205[17:38:38] <ForgeDiscord> <halvors> Any good docs on that? Or examples?
L206[17:39:24] <ForgeDiscord> <StrikerRocker> Vanilla has some datafixers
L207[17:45:14] <ForgeDiscord> <halvors> Know of a mod using this for block mapping?
L208[17:45:52] <LexManos> https://github.com/MinecraftForge/MinecraftForge/commit/8d20258f3ce4e1e0594a8341a75ac9589bb25476
L209[17:52:02] <ForgeDiscord> <halvors> Again, 1.10?`
L210[18:10:58] <LexManos> 1.11
L211[18:11:15] <LexManos> 1.10 probably needs to register yourself with vanilla's stuff.
