L47[12:28:48] <SporkWitch> I thought the consensus was that it was "Keostationary"?
L48[13:43:44] <UmbralRaptor> To be fair, it could be an orbit around a different planet
L49[14:04:53] <SporkWitch> Also seems to be a moderate amount of agreement to just say things like "martian geostationary orbit," comparing it with the common usage of "martian geology." You do get some (e.g. in Robinson's Mars trilogy) using the "areo" prefix, but it definitely would be tedious and confusing to use a different term for each body. If someone said "mercury geostationary orbit" you'd know what was meant and
L50[14:04:56] <SporkWitch> only a pedant would complain.
L51[14:25:44] <FLHerne> yeah
L52[14:27:52] <FLHerne> KSP does shortcut all the apogee/apolune/aphelion stuff and just uses "apoapsis" for everything
L53[14:50:38] <packbart> as it should
L54[14:51:54] <packbart> meanings change, too. "geostationary" is an accepted term for stationary orbits around any body
L55[14:52:07] <packbart> same as "sun" for stars outside our system
L56[14:54:03] <SporkWitch> that's more of a "they are suns" vs "the sun" situation, same as "the moon" is also _A_ moon

L75[20:20:25] <SporkWitch> umbralraptop: have you seen anything definitive on that? Because at least one of the feature videos they released talked about binaries and having both bodies affecting your orbit, so that's a pretty strong indication they're doing 3-body this time around...
L76[20:22:09] <umbralraptop> From what I've heard, they're doing something special for Rask & Rusk, but it's not the norm and they're otherwise not doing n-body
L77[20:23:22] <SporkWitch> well hopefully they use a similar cheat to give us lagrange points :P
L78[20:24:00] <SporkWitch> (logically, they could just put a "fake" SOI in the right spot, with the right gravity to simulate it, and it'd "cost" the same as any other 2-body orbit)
