wide range of ways the discarded section can bump the next stage
off course! The frontiers of science are being pushed back!
L126[15:09:03] <Pinkbeast> flying upside
down> that's an interesting idea but I suspect the discarded
stage will then immediately pitch up and etc
L127[15:11:59] <SporkWitch> i kind of want
to see this rocket now; i've never really had issues with
separation as long as i got my staging right and positioned things
properly
L129[15:12:17] <Mat2ch> FLHerne: the trick
is to gain speed in the lower parts. You start out pretty level
until you reach Mach 1, then climb slowly. You should be at Mach 3
at 10 km height. Then go almost flat and accelerate further. When
you reach 20 km you should be at 1200 to 1300 m/s. Now glide up
until the engines don't produce thrust anymore and use something
rocket powered for the last few m/s.
L130[15:13:56] <Pinkbeast> SporkWitch: Not
at the games machine, but the basic problem is the rocket stage is
on top of, even slightly behind, the plane; this means it can get
_down_ onto Eve using the heat tolerance of the spaceplane parts on
the belly. So there's a lot of scope for the discarded stage to
collect the rocket stage.
