L269[17:32:18] <APlayer> I have this
problem and I can't seem to solve it because it is late. What is
the travel time of a body that starts at altitude a with a starting
upward velocity v and, moving straight up, ends at altitude b? Not
accounting for the change in gravity, it can be easily solved via d
= v*t + 1/2*a*t^2. However, accounting for the change in gravity
between a and b seems to result in differential equations for
me,
L270[17:32:18] <APlayer> which I don't
think it should. Anyone have hints?

L275[17:37:09] <APlayer> Without air

L276[17:38:05] <raptop> Oh, right. Energy

L277[17:39:26] <APlayer> I suppose energy
conservation is the alternative approach (other than classical
mechanics)
L278[17:39:35] <APlayer> But I could not
relate that to time in any way
L279[17:39:49] <raptop> oh, right
L280[17:40:49] <APlayer> I suppose you
somehow have to integrate v(t) to get d(t) and solve for t, but
that's easier said than done (the "get v(t)" part)
L281[17:41:31] <APlayer> v(t) might be

to cosine solutions...
