L34[07:42:42] <payonel> @Renno on a test branch, `openos` is like a wine command, it runs openos programs in emulation. this runs fully inside of mcos, the os for the mod
L35[07:43:09] <Renno> do you have robots implemented?
L36[07:43:09] <payonel> @Grahmindol emulating openos is a significant layer, the intent is not to emulate OC as a whole
L37[07:43:36] <payonel> yeah, they're "golems"

L62[07:52:36] <payonel> modcomp (Modular Computers) provides preemptive threading and interrupts on the devices, and a robust device bus layer
L63[07:52:50] <payonel> so a lot of things that "port" become a huge waste of performance for the user
L64[07:53:03] <payonel> i built the openos emulation layer to help introduce ppl to the mod
L65[07:53:14] <payonel> this is probably a version .1 of the mod
L66[07:53:43] <payonel> but the hardest part has been done, the lua runtime, devices and interrupts, and a rather robust mcos
L67[07:53:53] <payonel> now i have a huge list of features to add so it is fun
L68[07:54:23] <payonel> but if ppl want to use it, they'll probably first try openos emulation in mcos. but then realize they're making their lives worse, and should just run directly on mcos

L91[13:56:30] <dadamalda> I'm developing an addon for OpenComputers Rebooted and want some opinions. I'm thinking of adding a sattelite card that can send messages to and from Ad Astra orbit, allowing a message to go from a space station to every sattelite card on earth. The tradeoffs are power consumption (in space), requiring a space station and having to see the sky. Do you think this is balanced? Would you change anything? Should it be cheaper or similar to the linked card?
L92[14:02:26] <Corded> > <dadamalda> I'm developing an addon for OpenComputers Rebooted and want…
L93[14:02:27] <vftdan> IMO, it sounds to be inbetween `modem` (wired/wireless network cards) and `tunnel` (linked cards), so I would make it cheaper than a linked card at least in some aspects (crafting/slot tier/power consumption)
L94[14:08:21] <dadamalda> I guess it is like unlimited distance in one dimension with setup needed, so maybe the power consumption could be lower than the linked card
